はじめに
信号処理に於いて、時刻 $n$ 毎に直近 $N$ 個のサンプルの(時間的に逆向きの)DFTを計算したい状況がある。例えばDCTによる近似的な直交変換 LMS (Least Mean Square) アルゴリズムがそうである。その際に毎度 $N$ 点FFTを実行すると毎時刻 $O(N\log N)$ の計算量となる。しかし実は漸化式を用いてこれを回避し、毎度 $O(N)$ の計算量とする方法がある([1] p65)。本記事ではこれについて述べ、Mathematicaによる数値例を載せる。
問題の定式化と計算量の削減
1次元離散時間信号 $x: \mathbb{Z} \to \complexNumbers$ の過去 $N$ 点の DFT $X: \{0,1,\dots,N-1\}\times\mathbb{Z} \to \complexNumbers$ を次式で定義する。

これを毎時刻FFTで計算すると、毎度 $O(N\log_2 N)$ の計算量となるが、以下で説明する方法で $O(N)$ の計算量に改善する。

数値例
次のMathematicaノートブックでは次数2の安定なIIRフィルタにGaussianノイズを入力した結果の信号(サンプル数4096)に対して毎時刻、過去256サンプルの時間的に逆行するDFTを行う(回転因子の回転方向が逆になる)。それらのDFTの平均値を出力としている。最後に毎時刻FFTを行うnaiveな方法と、先程説明した方法で計算した結果の差を比較し、誤差が十分小さいことを確認している。
注意点としては、僅かずつ計算誤差が蓄積するため、長時間実行するケースでは定期的なリセット(過去サンプルのFFTを普通に計算)が必要である点を挙げておく。
